Troubleshooting A Furrion Vision S RV Camera System Monitor That Goes Black When Using View All

Question:

Just bought a used RV that has Vision S rear and side marker cameras models FCR48TAR and FCR48TAL, from the sticker on the camera installed, but no monitor, so I purchased the Vision S 7inch monitor FR47FR from eTrailer. I have all 3 cameras paired to the monitor, and I can each camera individually all show good signal with no outs. But when I View All, the monitor shows the 3-camera display for less than a second with no actual camera picture, just black on the screen with the camera labels and goes back to ing one of the individual cameras. And after that, the unit is basically hung, I cannot change the camera ion until I power cycle the monitor. After reading some RV forums, I disconnected each of the side cameras one at a time to determine if one of these was causing the issue. What I found is that if either of the side cameras or both are connected, then I have the View Allinch issue I described above. Since both side marker cameras cause the same problem, this wouldnt seem to be a bad camera. Any suggestions?

I spoke with Furrion and found that this is a known issue with the wiring on the side marker cameras # FCE48TASL. A lot of people have been installing the trigger wire in with the power wire instead of running it to the turn signal or just capping it off. I've attached an installation video I did below where I show the wires for the cameras at the 6:18 minute mark.

You'll want to remove the whole side marker camera from the trailer to get to the wiring and disconnect the trigger wire and cap it off with some electrical tape.

If this doesn't solve the issue then let me know and we can keep troubleshooting until we have the issue resolved.

Where is the video for that install? I had this just installed on my new 5th wheel and am having the same issue. They thought it was the monitor and are going to send me a whole new unit. Hopefully this fixes it instead. Regards

@Paul The installation video is on this page just below the parts in the 'Featured Help Information' section. I have found issues with power with the main camera can affect the connection to the side cameras. I installed the # VGR64VR at the back camera and then the side cameras started functioning properly.

@Paul The trigger wire is only used if you have a turn signal wire at the location of the camera, which would power on when the turn signal is activated and force the monitor to switch to that camera view. Since most trailers don't have a turn signal wire ran for this just capping it off with some electrical tape would be fine. The V+ traffic lamp and V+ camera wires can be spliced together with the running light circuit so that both the light and camera have power whenever the running lights are on in the tow vehicle. The ground wire can be spliced to a ground wire for the light, if there's one there, or can be just be mounted to a nearby frame with a ring terminal. If the cameras are still having issues with connecting then it's usually fixed by ensuring there's enough voltage running to the rear camera. If these cameras are a new addition then they're pulling a bit more power than before and could cause the voltage to drop just enough to cause issues with the main rear camera. That's where adding in the # VGR64VR would help solve the issue since it stores power and provides a constant 12 volts to the rear camera.
