Can Different SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs Be Used for Better Clearance

Question:

hi - i ordered two of these to add to my double axle car hauler with underslung suspension - but there isnt enough space for the spring. the spring on top of the bracket is about 6.5 inch tall, but theres only about 4.5 inch of space there. i forgot the exact number but i know its significantly less than the height of the sumo spring without any spacers. could i try the overslung kit? or somehow this same kit with a different bracket? any suggestions on how to have the same benefits with something that fits? thanks!

The SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs # SS33HR is designed for applications where the leaf springs are under the axle - if you only have 4-1/2" of spacing between the top of the leaf spring stack and your trailer frame then that leads me to believe your suspension is either old or overloaded as your axle is going to be really close to your trailer frame. This requires 7-7/16" - 8-5/8" of clearance between the top of the spring plate to the bottom of the trailer frame.

The SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs # SS26MV is designed for applications where the leaf springs are above the axle and requires 5-5/16" - 6-1/2" of clearance between the top of the spring plate and the bottom of the trailer frame.

SumoSprings has told us in the past that it's okay to cut off some of the spring with their system and it still work okay but with your setup I would double check that everything else is setup correctly and your suspension is in good working condition before trying to add enhancement to it.
