2018 Ford F-150 Tire Chain Solution for Tire Size 275/65R18
Published 09/21/2022 >
Question:
I have a 2018 Ford F-150 with 275/65R18 tires. I have am upcoming trip where I will be driving on non serviced forest roads. I would like to have chains just in case I need them. The Ford manual only recommends chains on the rear for certain tire sizes and my tire size is not one of them. I checked the clearance for the rear tires I have 3” to the out from the tread to the wheel well and 1.5” from the inside to the shock. For the front tire I have 1.5” of clearance from the tread when the wheels are turned and 1” from the inside to the A arm. Would the TC2327 chains work on the rear? Am I better off with claw S cables in the rear? Can I run class S Cables on the fronts. Is it bad to run chains on the rear and cables up front? Should I not be putting chains on at all due to Fords CYA disclaimer in the manual? Any assistance would be appreciated.

You definitely have more than enough clearance for chains to fit without interference on your 2018 Ford F-150 with tire size 275/65R18 but we have to recommend you get the green light from Ford. We have found that if you contact a Ford dealer near the areas where chains are required they will give you a solution that works.
The Titan chains part # TC2327 are a really great solution for what you need too. These are priced great but what I really like about them is that they do work really well and are easy to install. Cables on the other hand are not as effective, wear out after one use, and aren't as easy to install.
These are Class S compatible as well and would be what I would recommend for all four tires.
