Bulldog recommended wiring to a deep cycle battery , etrailer said I could wire a 7 way plug and use it for powering jack , can u clarify this ?

Yes, the Bulldog Powered Drive Trailer Jack - Black # BD500199 can be wired to either a battery or to the 7-way. If you wire it to the battery you'll be able to operate the jack any time, as long as the battery has a 12v charge.
If you wire it to the 7-way then you'll have to plug the 7-way connector for your trailer into the 7-way on the back of your tow vehicle to have power. This option is more popular with trailers that don't have a battery. This can also be done one of two ways;
Option 1: Wire it to the 12v power post of your trailer's junction box to have it pull power from the trailer's 7-way when connected to the tow vehicle.
Option 2: Wire it to its own plug # PK12706, with the wire connected to the 1 o'clock position of the plug, and then you can plug it in to the tow vehicle's 7-way to power it.
