Question:
I am trying to replace an axle on a small boat trailer. I am not sure what dimensions I need. I am assuming spring separation in inches and possibly hub face length. Is this correct? Do I need spindle diameter of is this standard/

You can check your existing axle to see if it has any information stamped or stickered to it with the rating, part number, and/or serial number. We can use this information to find out the necessary dimensions for a replacement axle. If you cannot find this information, you can measure the hub face to hub face distance, the spring center to spring center distance, axle diameter, and bolt pattern for this axle.
Since you say this axle is on a small boat trailer, you probably have an axle rated for 3,500 lbs. We have many to choose from. For example, the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with Standard Spindles - 89" Long - 3,500 lbs, part # T3584F-8974, is a 3,5000 lbs axle with a hub face to hub face measurement of 89", a spring center to spring center measurement of 74", and a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern.
I have included a product description link, a weblink for our 3,500 lbs axles, a video link of this axle being installed, and weblinks explaining how to measure an axle and determine a bolt pattern for your axle below.
