Bike Rack Recommendation for a 70-Pound E-Bike with a 1-1/4" Hitch

Question:

After removing so many things that are easy to take out I was able to reduce the weight to nearly 67lbs. I thinks it is still too risky.

For your 1-1/4" hitch, the absolute best option is the Thule EasyFold XT # TH903202. Not only is this rack compatible with Class I and Class II hitches, it comes with an integrated ramp so you do not have to lift the bike off the ground to load. As far as the weight capacity, it has a 65 pound per-bike maximum. Although, if you remove your battery from your bike, you will be able to fall within the weight rating of the rack. This is because most batteries weigh between 5-7 pounds.

If you are still uncomfortable with using the EasyFold XT, you can also consider the Yakima OnRamp - 1-1/4" # Y96FR. This gives you an extra pound with a 66 pound per-bike weight capacity. It is important to note that this rack can only be used with Class II 1-1/4" hitches and cannot be used with Class I 1-1/4" hitches due to its construction. It is also beneficial to know that you can also remove the seat for extra weight elimination in addition to the battery. If you go with the OnRamp, I recommend measuring the center of your hitch's pinhole to the outside face of your rear bumper to make sure you have enough length on the shank to clear your bumper. As long as that length does not exceed 5 inches long, you are good to go!
