Question:
The trailer light hook up on my 2001 suburban appears to be wired in a way that there is constant 12 volt power even when the key is off. On occasion I pull a few different trailers that have a battery with charger built in. my camper, and also a dump trailer A few times after having my truck plugged in for a in period of time, sometimes not very long 1-2 hours my battery in my truck will die. Id rather have my vehicle side trailer plug wired in a way that it is keyed 12 volt power. Im wondering what would be the easiest way to do this? Thank you for any help you can provide.

To only send power to the 12 volt charge line circuit on your 2001 Chevrolet Suburban you need to add a Relay Switch # BDW42035. With this switch you will be able to connect it to an ignition circuit wire that only receives power when the ignition switch is placed in the run position.
You will need to find where the 12 volt charge line is getting its power from the battery and connect the relay in line. There are 4 connections on the Relay.

#85 Ground Terminal
#86 Ignition Switch Wire
#87 12 Volt Charge line to 7-way connector
