What are the INTERIOR dimensions of this box? I need to fit an object that is 53x28.

I have a solution for you. The internal dimensions of the Yakima RocketBox Pro 12 Y07191 is 48 inches long x 26.5 inches wide. Unfortunately, Yakima could not confirm the internal height of the box. With that being said, the RocketBox 12 will not be able to fit your 53" x 28" object. There is no Yakima RocketBox model that it will be able to fit.

However, I recommend the Thule Motion XT XL Rooftop Cargo Box - 18 cu ft # TH6358B. The Thule Motion XT XL is the smallest cargo box we have that will be able to fit your object. It has internal dimensions of 77.5" long x 29.5 wide x 15.25" tall. Also, the Thule Motion XT XL will be able to mount on the roof of your 2016 Honda Fit and allow you to fully open your rear hatch.
