Thule Trunk Bike Rack Comparisons

Question:

Could you give me some pros and cons between the: 2 Bike 1 Thule Gateway Pro: TH88VR $219.95 2 Thule Outway TRunk Bike Rack TH45JV $329.95 3 Thule Outway Trunk Platform Trunk $399 a Most interested in price point difference reasons b What does non-retractable mean? c Aluminum vs Steele? d Any other considerations? I may buy the added lock.

I've only dealt with the Thule Gateway Pro # TH88VR and I've not used the Thule Outway # TH45JV before. That being said, I am not a fan of trunk mounted bike racks but the Gateway Pro didn't give me any trouble so I would definitely go with that one! Check out the video I've made using the Gateway Pro!

If you plan on keeping it on your trunk aluminum would be ideal but the powder coated steel will resist the rust just as well. The arms on the Gateway fold down which means it's a retractable. Sometimes more fancy isn't something I go with which usually affects the price. Sometimes simpler is better and in this case it is!

Here is a lock # TH533 for the rack!
