Towing Capacity of 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLK Class
Question:
Hello, I have a 2015 GLK 350 4 Matic and have a class iii hitch attached to the vehicle. I just took my vintage trailer to be weighed and it is 3180lbs with a 380lb tongue weight. I am planning on installing breaks on the trailer but I was trying to see if my GLK is capable of towing this trailer or not?

According to the owner's manual for your 2015 Mercedes-Bens GLK 350 4 Matic, the towing capacity is listed as 3500 lbs, which shouldn't be a problem, but the maximum trailer tongue weight is listed as 280 lbs which is considerably less than the 380 lb tongue weight you mentioned which means I wouldn't recommend towing it as it sits.
If you could reduce the tongue weight by 100 lbs, bringing the tongue weight of the trailer below 280 lbs, you'd be fine towing the trailer, but I can't recommend doing anything that would contradict what's stated in the manual. You might be able to reduce the tongue weight by moving some of the gear carried in the trailer rearward, thus reducing the tongue weight. If this is a cargo trailer, that would be certainly doable but not so much if it's a camper.
