Replacement Hinge For Jetbag Cargo Box

Question:

I have an old discontinued I assume roof top cargo box called Jet Bag. I assume it is no longer manufactured nor is the company in business any longer. One of the hinges has broken blown out at the top by the spring. I have attached a picture of it in place to aid in the understanding of the issue. I cannot find an exact replacement, and I am wondering if any of the replacement hinges for cargo boxes that I see could be used would have to be altered certainly to work, since I cannot find the exact replacement part. IF you know of a replacement part - please let me know. If you think that ne of your replacement hinges might work - please let me know which one and why........I realize it would not be in any way guaranteed by you - it would have to be altered, but might be worth a try. The distance between the ends of the hinge when fully extended is 9.25 inches - measured from the bolt to bolt in a direct line - not following the hinge around the angles but directly in a straight line. One of the pictures shows the broken hinge and 2 of the pictures show the remaining hinge that is still working correctly. The question would ultimately be how to best joint the replacement hinge to the mounting brackets on the jet bag which can easily be removed. Would one of these work? I may have a solution for you, but we don't have anything that we've confirmed will work on a Jet Bag cargo box. However, it looks like you do have something similar to both the Thule # TH14936 and the Yakima # 8880683. The mounting method would likely be the same as the existing hinge, so you can use a screw or bolt depending, but neither of these two are the correct length so you'd likely want to replace both so that the box opened the same height on both sides.

The Thule # TH14936 is 10-3/8" from bolt hole to bolt hole (center on center) and the Yakima # 8880683 is 11" bolt hole to bolt hole. It looks like the Yakima hinge would be the closest solution in terms of matching your existing mounting method.
