Where Do You Connect The Power Wire Of A Lippert Electric Trailer Jack?
Products Featured in This Question
Question:
I have the Lippert electric Jack. My truck is a 2019 F250. There is one wire coming out of the electric jack. I know this is the hot wire. My question is, where do I connect it? I do not want a 12v battery sitting on the tongue of my trailer. I have trailer brakes on the trailer it is a 24” enclosed trailer with duel axle. I connected the jack wire to the 12v wire coming from the truck the 1 o’clock position on the plug the jack goes up and down. When I disconnected the trailer from the truck, the jack goes up and down using the little battery that operates the trailer brakes. My question is, do I have it hooked up to the wrong place?

The power wire for your Lippert Electric jack should be run to a dedicated 12v battery in your trailer, but it sounds like you have it wired to the break away switch battery.
I recommend unwiring it from the break away switch battery as if you drain the battery by using the jack while it is unhooked from the vehicle you could run into an issue of the break away switch not working properly in an emergency situation.
If you jack is the Lippert Power Stance Electric Trailer Jack with Footplate # LC69VR I recommend using the Auxiliary Power Cord for Lippert Power Stance Electric Trailer Jack # LC79VR which will draw power from your tow vehicles 7-way connector and will not effect the break away switch battery or require you to add a 12v battery to your trailer.
I included a video for both of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
