Can Taller Trailer Suspension Equalizer Increase Trailer's Ride Height
Products Featured in This Question
Question:
Can I use taller equalizers to raise the ride height of my trailer? Im only taking it a few miles to my shop were I can actually do some work on it. Such as flipping the axles. Its an old winnebago I bought for $250 and the slightly used tires were given to me. Only problem is I need an inch or 2...

You could do that, but in order to get the height increase, you'll also need to go with taller front and rear spring hangers. For instance, if your current equalizers are 2 inches high, and you switch to the # TREQ310 equalizer which would add two inches, you'd also need a 2 inch taller spring hanger, such as # E4139. If you don't raise the height all the way across the board, the trailer could handle poorly and be more susceptible to sway.
If the trailer has a 2-3/8 or a 3 inch diameter axle tube, and over-under conversion kit is the best way to achieve that height increase (assuming that the axle is currently installed under the springs). For a 2-3/8 inch axle, use # K71-384-00 or # K71-385-00 for a 3 inch axle tube. With either, you'll gain a height increase roughly equal to the diameter of the axle.
