Question:
I just purchased the bike rack and I believe the install went well. On my ‘12 Toyota Highlander, it looked like the cross bar for the luggage rack was best point to attached due to spoiler. Am I missing something, some pics have straps that look tucked into rear passenger compartment. Fit appears fine. Thoughts on top attachment to luggage rack? Thank you!

In order to install the Yakima FullBack 2 Bike Rack part # Y02634 on a 2012 Toyota Highlander you'll need to change out the upper and lower hooks and install them in anchor mode which is discussed in the installation manual. That said, there should be no straps attached to the crossbars. If you install the straps in anchor mode as required you won't have any damage to the rear spoiler although the straps will rest of this slightly.
In order to provide theft deterrence for the bike rack, you'll also need the Security Strap for Yakima Trunk Mounted Bike Carrier part # Y02623.
