Question:
Hello. I recently purchased a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT with a 4.7 Liter V8 engine. I would like to add a tow hitch but would like to know if I should put a class 3 or class 4 hitch on the truck. Any advice/recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Putting a Class III or Class IV trailer hitch on your 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 really depends on how you are going to use it. The Class III etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98852 or Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13333 is the best option for light towing.
They are very simple to put on with zero drilling required and have a 6,000 lb towing and 600 lb tongue weight capacity, which is more than enough for most Ram 1500 models (please refer to your owner's manual for your specific capacity as it can vary greatly based on a number of factors).
If your Ram 1500 has a heavier capacity then I recommend the Class IV Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 14361.
This hitch has a 10,000 lb capacity and 1,000 lb tongue weight capacity, and also does not require any drilling to install, making it the easiest Class IV trailer hitch to install on a 2007 Ram 1500.
I have added links to the installation instructions as well as a link to an install on a 2007 Ram 1500 of the Class III Curt Hitch # 13333 (the install of the etrailer hitch will be exactly the same).
If you do not have factory trailer wiring you can add a 4-way to your Ram with the Wiring Harness # 119178KIT.
I have also added a link to our selection of ball mounts for you to take a look at.
