Question:
What length cross bars should I order for a 2019 VW atlas? Is it compatible with the atlas with the large sunroof? Also I have read reviews on cheaper crossbars, they can break at the point the feet connect to the bar because they are made of plastic. What is material that connects the feet to the crossbars? Plastic? Metal? Thanks and sorry for all the questions. I’m looking at the Malone airflow 2.

For you 2019 Volkswagen Atlas I recommend the Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack with 58" Long crossbars # MPG216. The 58" bars give you plenty of space to mount accessories like bike racks, roof baskets, or kayak carriers.
It's compatible with your Atlas, even with the large sunroof, however I can't confirm if the sunroof will open with the rack installed. However, they are extremely easy to remove and install. They simply clamp on to your existing rails on your Atlas, and the tightening tool stores in the foot/tower so you won't have to worry about losing it.
The bars are made of aluminum, so they're strong, and rust proof, and attach to nylon molded towers. They have an elliptical shape, which helps cut down on the wind noise when you're driving. They also have built in metal lock cores on the towers to keep it secure to the roof.
I understand the concern with you reading about cheaper racks breaking, but I haven't had or heard of any problems with the Malone airflow 2 crossbars. They are made very well, and a great value; they have a lot of features you would expect from a more higher end rack and are quick and easy to install. We haven't had an Atlas in the shop but I linked a video for you to check out of the roof rack.
