Snow Tire Chains for 2014 Audi Q5.
Updated 01/21/2020 | Published 01/20/2020 >
Question:
Have a 2014 Audi Q5. Manual says: Snow chains may be fitted only to the rear wheels, and only to certain tire sizes. Ask your authorized auto dealer on which tire sizes and snow chains can be usedinch and The snow chains must have low-profile links and must not be thicker than 0.53/13.5mm, including the lock. Dealership looked up my car, said they had parts for 17inch and 19, but not mine. Suggested 3rd party, but didnt clarify compatibility. My tires are the Michele Tour HP - 235/60 R18 103H. I have never installed snow chains before, and it seems above all else clearance/potential damage to car is of top concern. Thanks in advance!

I am glad to hear that you are doing your research and looking into what is the best and safest choice for you 2014 Audi Q5, because clearance issues and potential damage to the vehicle is something that everyone wants to avoid.
We do have tire chains that are compatible with your Audi, I recommend Konig Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains for SUVs and Crossover Vehicles # TH01594247. These are a confirmed fit for 235/60 R18 which you have on your Q5 and are class S compatible. That means that they have a low profile design, and are made to use with vehicles that have limited wheel well clearance; they require 12mm of internal clearance, which is less than what the manual says.
I really like these chains because they have a self-tensioning and self-centering design, so there is no need a separate adjuster, and makes them much faster to install. It also has a nice storage bag, a kneeling mat so you don't have to be in the snow, and gloves. Most people just put them with their spare tire for when they need them.
I linked the chains and a video for you to check out to see how they are installed.
