Question:

I just got a 2020 Ford Ranger and now we need a trailer hitch and wiring to tow a trailer. What do you recommend?

The trailer hitch that I recommend for a 2020 Ford Ranger is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13417 which is a custom bolt-on fit that does not require any cutting or drilling. The process should actually only take you around 20 to 40 minutes. I have attached an install photo for you as well.

For a trailer wiring harness, the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 22124 is your best option as it does not require any splicing therefore is almost entirely plug and play. I also recommend adding the 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket part # HM40975 which gives you both a 4 and 7-way as well as a mounting bracket though this is not required.

If the trailer has brakes, I highly recommend the Autowbrake Electric Brake Controller part # 3430001 as it installs entirely on the trailer so you don't have to modify the vehicle which there is not a plug-in option for.

Just a follow-up question to this recommendation: why is this not listed in the chart on your site? The chart only lists Ranger years through 2012. I am looking for this also.

@CarlH Thank you for your response. I have juast one more question. The installation inastructions indicate that the bolts that hold the bumper assemblyshould be reused for the hitch installation. I have been advised that the bolts should be grade 8 bolts and just wanted tyo confirm if these conform to that standard. Do you know if the bumper assembly bolts are grade 8?

Right off-hand I don't know 100% that they are grade 8 bolts but I would assume that is the case, especially since Curt says to reuse those bolts for their trailer hitch installation.
