Solution for RV with Kwikee Steps that Are Opening When Ignition is Turned On

Question:

Thank you for checking back with me. I have a Kwikee power gear step. New on RV in 2012. Has always worked. I tested the yellow wire and it has 12v when the ignition is turned on. When the door is closed and steps in the turning on of the ignition causes the steps to go out?

Most powered RV steps are wired up so that if you turn on the RV the steps will automatically retract. If yours is extending instead that would indicate that this circuit is wired backwards. Do you know what steps you have?

Thanks for getting me the info on your steps. I attached a diagram that shows how the step module SHOULD be wired. Your yellow wire having power when the ignition on is correct so it seems like the wiring is correct. Only explanation beyond that would be that the module is bad and in need of replacement with part # LC379146 since it's interpreting the signal backwards.
