How To Replace the Factory Brake Controller ITBC on a 2015 Chevy Silverado With An Aftermarket One

Question:
Constantly getting “check trailer wiring” Trailer works fine with our older truck and paid to have the trailer wiring checked as well. Can I use an aftermarket brake controller? Would the hookup be the same as the explanation I just read re 2015 2500 Silverado?

Yes, you can replace the factory integrated brake controller (ITBC) on your 2015 Chevrolet Silverado with an aftermarket brake controller. I recommend using the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90195 because it is one of the best performing and most reliable aftermarket brake controllers on the market. It will out perform the factory integrated brake controller (ITBC) tenfold and it will also work with electric over hydraulic brakes.
In order to bypass the factory integrated brake controller (ITBC) you will essentially just need to run a brake output wire from the aftermarket brake controller back to the 7-way and make a few other connections. There is an entire help article on this exact process which I have attached for you and that should then make the job very easy to complete and you won't have to worry about the factory integrated brake controller (ITBC) error codes anymore.
