Does Use of Tow Bar Require Locking Front Wheels

Question:

If you leave the steering unlocked do you have to secure the steering wheel in any way or will the steering or wheels just follow nominally I use to see them tie a rope to the steering wheel in the past

The only time you want to lock your steering wheel (and front tires) is when using a tow dolly like Roadmaster's # RM-2050-1 or Demco's Kar Kaddy # DM9713045. Flat towing with a tow bar like the Stowmaster Tow Bar # RM-501 requires that the front wheels be unlocked to allow them to track behind the towing vehicle. I confirmed this with Roadmaster.
