In order to find out if your vehicle is equipped to pull a certain trailer you will need to find the towing capacity of your vehicle and make sure the weight of the trailer does not exceed this figure. Now, there are several different towing capacities for a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 5.7L V8 that can range from 4,690 lbs to 9,150 lbs. If you can provide me with your cab style, transmission type, axle ratio, and gross combined weight rating (GCWR) then I could give you an exact capacity. Unfortunately, there is not a standard gross weight of all travel trailers but if you can give me the make, model, and floorplan I may be able to find this out for you.
If the vehicle's towing capacity does exceed the trailer's gross weight then you are going to need a trailer hitch, wiring harness, and ball mount/hitch ball in order to tow it. For this, I recommend the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 41929, the Upgraded Circuit Protected Tail Light Converter part # 119178KIT, and the Curt Channel Style Adjustable Ball Mount part # C45900. If the trailer has brakes just let me know.
