Can a Dodge ram 1500 3.6l pull a 1989 5 wheel

According to my research, the most well equipped 2014 Ram 1500 with the 3.6L V6 engine has a maximum towing capacity of 7,300 lbs. However, not all of them with the 3.6L V6 engine have this high of a towing capacity as the figures will vary depending on cab type, bed size, drive type etc. If you take the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) and subtract that from the gross combined weight rating (GCWR) which are both found on the white info sticker in your door jamb that will then tell you what your max towing capacity is.
If the maximum towing capacity of your Ram 1500 exceeds the gross trailer weight (GTW) of the 5th wheel trailer you are looking to tow then yes, you should not have any issues. Please keep in mind that there were several different 5th wheel trailers made during 1989 and they are not all the same weight so you would need to obtain the make, model, and floor pan in order to accurately determine its gross trailer weight.
If it turns out that the gross trailer weight of the 5th wheel trailer you are looking at is below the towing capacity of your Ram 1500 then in order to tow it you will need a 5th wheel hitch and install kit. For this, I recommend Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # RP30047 if you have the 5-1/2' bed with a sidewinder pin box or the 8' bed and the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Round Tube Slider part # RP30075 if you have the 6-1/2' bed. In order to install either of these 5th wheel hitches I recommend using the Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit part # RP50142-58. I also recommend the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Wiring Harness part # C56000.
Please keep in mind that if you have a 5-1/2' bed you will also need a rotating pin box in order to offer sufficient turning clearance. If you can let me know what pin box you have I would be glad to see if we have a rotating replacement for you but if not I have attached a list of our options for you below.
