Reese 5th Wheel Hitch - RP30075

  • 16000 lbs GTW
  • Above Bed Rails
  • Reese
  • Sliding Fifth Wheel
  • Standard - Double Jaw
  • Double Pivot
  • 4000 lbs Vertical Load
  • 15 - 18 Inch Tall
  • 11 Inch Fore/Aft Travel

Fifth-wheel trailer hitch provides excellent jaw-to-king-pin contact with a 2-jaw latching system. Non-binding, round-tube slider helps to eliminate clearance concerns during slow-speed turns. Rails and installation kit sold separately.

Features:

  • 2-Jaw locking system provides more jaw-to-king-pin contact than slide-bar models
    • Less rattle
    • Greater security
  • Round-tube slider provides clearance required for your short-bed pickup to turn safely at slow speeds
    • Prevents trailer from hitting the cab of your pickup during sharp, slow-speed turns
    • Inhibits binding and provides smooth operation
  • 4-Way pivoting head eases hookup on unlevel ground
  • 3" Height adjustment
  • Wide stance offers excellent stability
  • Black powder coat finish resists corrosion
  • Locking handle has cushioned grip
  • Above-bed rails and mounting kit sold separately
    • Fits Curt, Valley, Draw-Tite, Hidden-Hitch and Reese base rails
    • Cut installation time in half by using a vehicle-specific bracket kit instead of the universal kit

Specs:

  • Gross towing weight: 16,000 lbs
  • Vertical load limit: 4,000 lbs
  • Installed hitch height (including rails): 15" - 18"
  • Travel: 11" front to back
  • 5-Year limited warranty

Note: This fifth-wheel trailer hitch will not fit pickups with beds shorter than 6'. It also will not fit trucks with flareside/stepside bed. A minimum 13" extended trailer pin box is recommended. If using a slider, hitch will not adjust to lowest height setting.

Reese Double Jaw

Secure, 2-Piece Jaw

Unlike the more economical slide-bar models, the rounded, 2-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

Round-Tube Slider

Most often used on trucks with 6' beds, this roller helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a roller to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.

I had only one issue with the hitch within the year. The 2-Jaw locking system handle detached from the jaws and I could not disconnect from the camper. After some ingenuity I did get the hitch disconnected. After troubleshooting I found that the E-Clip External Retaining Ring came off allowing the lever to detach from the jaws. I installed a new clip so far so good.

by:

Installation went as printed, took two of us 4 hrs. instead of 2, but I am a perfection freak, centered within 1/32" . Have not used it yet, but will be shortly. Installed to specs provided. Will purchase next hitch from etrailer, Did not call for help, but good to know they were there if needed.

Excellent quality products from Reese along with great service and pricing from e-trailer. I did run into some availability issues from the manufacturer with my initial order but Kelsey informed me quickly so we could modify my order. My order was shipped very promptly as promised. Thank you Kelsey for the amazing customer service!

by:

once i finally got the bottom platform to fit it went together quite well. It is really heavy for a 74 year old to wrestle around but i have a 40 year old son to help. Have never had to slide it back to back the fifth wheel up but have not had any close quarters to deal with. I would imagine that one of these made out of aluminum would be really expensive and probably not as strong.

by:

Product is as it was described. Straight forward installation. Only problem I had was minor shipping damage. The ear of the 5th wheel plate was bent from it being dropped I would guess. Better packaging would've solved this...

by:

I like fifth the wheel operation and it has easy setup.

by:

Awesome customer service and fast delivery. I will use etrailer in the future

excellent service & fith wheel thanks so much .

The hitch had several large scratches on the front leg decals and a lot of smaller scratches and dings on the painted surfaces. This was caused by inadequate packing materials. The parts should be packaged so they are not allowed to touch and rub against each other during transit. One of the mounting pins did not have a machined groove for the locking clip. I had to use an old pin I had from the hitch I replaced. I would like to get a replacement pin that has a groove for the locking pin as the one I'm using is 20+ years old. I had to drill out the hole for the cotter pin that attaches the handle. The pin would not go through until I drilled it out. On the flip side the hitch is what I expected it to be and seems to be well built and should do what I need it to do. I gave you 3 stars due to the packaging issues and the pin with no groove.

by:

This product gets a three based on shipping condition only. etrailer customer service and shipping time was excellent as usual. The shipment arrived 2 days after the order was placed, as promised. However, as others have noted, the product packing is poor. The boxes arrived with significant damage resulting in cosmetic damage to several parts. I haven't put the hitch to use yet but I am assuming it will work correctly. I will leave a followup after I use it.

by:

Just finished putting it together and in the truck. Looks solid. A couple of holes between the legs and saddle bracket were slightly misaligned, so It took a little extra work to get it assembled, but that's better than them being really loose. The safety latch on the lever is also to tight, but nothing a touch with a file could not fix. Instructions could be a bit more detailed on assembly. Still looks like a good product. Can't wait to take it on the first trip.

by:

Arrived yesterday, box with hitch was broken, UPS driver said he taped it up. All parts look good. Plastic bag with small parts was torn open, 2 small parts missing, I can get them locally. I understand that there heavy Just need to be packaged better. Otherwise all ok.

by:

I’ve alway used hitches from Reese and enjoyed their performance. This is my first 5th hitch. It broke on the third pull. The rod holding the jaws fractured opening one side of the jaws. Thank God the trailer stayed attached and we made it home. Reese saw it was a warranty issue and replaced the hitch. Currently we are still using it and all appears to be working fine

by:

The hitch arrived nicely packed in two boxes. Very easy to assemble and install on my existing bed rails. I took the RV out for a first run with the hitch, and it performed as advertised. It was a no fuss transaction and the hitch arrived on-time!

by:

Slide spring steel came out 9n first install. Hasn't worked right since. Had same one before and no problems.

by:

Ordered this hitch for my 2014 Chevy,it came in two boxes and was put together on the work bench in no time at all. and I also ordered the custom rail kit RP50064-58. Just in time for summer camping.

by:

Nice ride with this hitch . I was kind of on the fence about the pivoting but I’m good with .

by:

I like the pin being surrounded by the jaws instead of just a bar across the back of the pin. The 16K seems to hold the pin tighter and helping to reduce chucking while towing. I had a slider due to when I bought this last 5th wheel, it was kind of forced onto me saying they couldn't let me leave without a slider with a short bed truck. But after I got home, I ordered a Reece Sidewinder, of which I had one on our first 5th wheel back in 2007. This is my third sidewinder and wouldn't pull without one. The Reece 16K hooks up good and towing without the worry of turning to sharp when getting fuel are days gone by, thanks to these 2 combined together.
The first Reece 16k I received had something just not right and I was having a heck of a time trying to hitch up. Sent Nicole here at eTrailer a picture of the jaws a little misaligned. Nicole got back with me quickly and we had a short conversation, and just a few days later I received a replacement head. That's service!!

by:

The first hitch arrived damaged in shipping. The dent was minor but it was on the receiver plate so I asked to return it.

A lot of vendors would have pushed back on an 89 pound box being sent back but the etrailer team set up the return and shipment of the new hitch. No problem.

The new hitch arrived in good shape this afternoon. It took me about a half hour to install with normal tools and a torque wrench. Directions were clear, the parts fit, and I appreciate having the knowledgeable people at etrailer to fall back on.

There are a lot of things owners can fix themselves with the support of quality products, knowledge, and great customer service etrailer delivers.

by:

Delivery was fast and packaged well.
This
is my first 5th wheel hitch and has worked great for me pulling a shorter camper with a long bed 3/4 ton truck. Nice height adjustability to match the truck with the trailer. Good solid feel while pulling.

by:

Product is good quality as it appeared --5th wheel itself was not delivered with rest of kit--arrived three days later. Installation easy.
Installation kit fits perfect-easy installation. Only variable was I had pre-existing air springs , so I had to mark and drill the frame brackets and install the air springs on the outside of the brackets--no big deal--worked out fine

by:

I purchased the Reese dual jaw slider and install bracket kit. Everything arrived in three days in perfect condition. After watching the install video and reviewing the enclosed instructions I installed the assembly myself. It took approximately 4 hours . As you can see I also did additional steps, cutting the rubber bed mat to fit around the rails. Also undercoating the brackets to blend in the wheel wells. Etrailer is definitely the place to go for all your RV needs.

  • Comparing 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Jaw Designs for a Hitch on a 2012 Ford F-250 Short Bed
There are a few different jaw types on a 5th wheel hitch. A slide bar can be found on the less expensive hitches like a Pro Series PS30094. A slide bar, while secure, is going to provide the least snug fit and you will notice the king pin making some noise. Next are double jaws and are much more secure and cut down quite a bit on the movement and noise of the king pin. Many Reese, Curt, and other brand mid-level and higher end hitches have the double locking jaw design like # RP30075. The...

There are no fit exclusions for the Denali models and we've had customers come back and tell us the rail kits like the Reese part # RP50066-58 fit without any issues. Since your truck is a short bed you'd want a slider hitch like the Reese # RP30075 which can slide back to give you additional turning clearance.

  • Fifth Wheel Slider Hitch Recommendation for 2006 Chevy Silverado Short Bed
Here is the formula to use to determine if you have clearance to make tight turns: (A + B) - C = Clearance A = Distance from the gooseneck ball to the truck cab B = Offset used (0 since you don't have one) C = Width of the nose of the trailer divided by 2. (42+0) - 48 = -6 inches. So you would not have enough clearance and realistically there isn't a gooseneck offset adapter that would give you the needed clearance. Only solution is to replace gooseneck hitch in truck bed with fifth...

  • Determining The Correct 5th Wheel Hitch To Buy Based On Trailer Ride Height
When measuring the hitch height you'll need to have the trailer level and the measure from the ground to the base of the king pin (pictured below). The trailer measurement minus the truck measurement of 36" that you got will give you the height that your fifth wheel hitch will need to sit at to tow your trailer level. For example, if your truck measurement is 36" and your trailer measurement is 53" then you'll need to have your hitch's height set at 17" for your trailer to ride level. Another...

5th Wheel trailer hitches are height adjustable. You just need to find one that can be adjusted down low enough to fit under the cover on the bed of your 2014 Ram 2500 short bed. Reese Hitch # RP30075 and Reese Hitch # RP30051 are good options since they are height adjustable from 13 to 17 inches. • Are Fixed 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches Lighter than Slider 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches
Yes, slider hitches weigh more because of all the extra steel and components in the sliding base. A fixed hitch of the same make and capacity will weigh less. For example, take a look at fixed Reese 16K hitch # RP30047. We have the shipping weight listed at 108 pounds. But for the square tube slider with the same head, # RP30051, the weight is 156 pounds. And the round tube, # RP30075, is 182 pounds. Quite a difference. It will be much easier to move a fixed hitch rather than a slider....

  • Curt Hitch Compared to Reese 16k Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation
I personally like Reese fifth wheel hitches more than the Reese hitches. The only thing the Curt hitches really have going for them is they have higher capacities. Reason I like Reese more is that we see more Curt hitches come back with issues here and there than the Reese hitches we sell more of. The head material of the Curt hitches seems to be softer and when you combine that with the wider funnel of them they tend to get chewed up easier. Also we get more question that deal with Curt...
