I am not entirely sure I understand your question. In regards to a breakaway system, the switch needs to have a separate battery for power according to most state regulations. You will need to check with your state's DOT but it is safe to assume you will need a separate battery for the breakaway switch. The seperate battery is not needed because of the amount of power pulled through the switch but rather as a backup in case something were to happen to the trailers main power source. The 12 volt pin on the vehicle's 7-way will be used to charge the breakaway battery.
If you need a breakaway battery then it may just be best to purchase a new kit for which I recommend the Hopkins Engager Push-To-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit part # 20099 as the push to test battery feature is very handy and it is rather cost effective for what is included. I have also attached a wiring diagram of the system for you as well.
