Question:
Can i tow my old trailer with old lights, On a new car with led lighting

Helpful Expert Reply:
Assuming the lights and wiring on your older trailer are in good condition you will not have any issues connecting with and powering its standard incandescent lights with a tow vehicle that is equipped with LED lights. The difference in light assemblies used on the vehicle and trailer will not cause any problems with function or power.
If you can tell me the year, make, and model of your tow vehicle I will be happy to recommend a trailer wiring harness if you don't already have one installed.

I'm having similar issues. 2019 GMC terrain with LED lights and a Carry-on trailer with incandescent lights. Having issues with left brake light and turn signal not functioning. All running lights and right turn, right brake lights work. Installer even switched out the wiring harness for one specific to my vehicle but still having issues.

I have a new car with led lights and my trailer has incandescent lights (10yrs old+) but the installer has problems installing, even using a universal bypass kit so I'm wondering if just exchanging the bulbs to LEDs would work. Thank you.
