Hi, I purchased and received a Yakima Hangout 2 to use with my EOS 2012 convertible yesterday. I just see the response you made about ‘how to install it on a 2014 Eos.. and was wondering if I have to do the same since there was no adapters in the box? Your expert answer was: `’The two top hooks will need to be converted to anchor mode and use the Glass Hatch Adapters, the bottom two straps will be converted to anchor mode and will not need to be switched out.’’ Thanks!

According to Yakima, the glass hatch adapters are not needed to install the Yakima HangOut 2 Bike Rack part # Y02637 on your 2012 Volkswagen Eos. Instead, you will need to convert the top two hook straps to anchor mode using the diagram I have attached for you which is also page 4 in the installation manual. The other 4 straps (2 side/2 bottom) will not need to be converted to anchor mode.

If you are looking for any sort of security then you will want to use part # Y02623 to secure the rack to the vehicle and both part # Y07233 and part # Y07202 to secure the bikes to the rack. Also please note that if you will be carrying women's or children's bikes then you may also want to consider the adapter bar part # Y02531.
