Will a Carpod Walled Cargo Carrier Fit a 2004 Lexus LX470
Question:
I am ready to order a Curt Hitch part #13443 and the Carpod walled cargo carrier M2200. There is a warning with the Curt hitch that the distance from the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of the carrier is only 4. Will this hitch and carrier work with my Lexus 2004 LX 470 given the limited clearance of only 4?

The warning is for the Carpod Walled Cargo Carrier, # M2200, because there is only 4 inches between the center of the hitch pin hole and the nearest part of the carrier. Normally, to determine fit, you would measure from the hitch pin hole center on the vehicle, out to the distance required to clear the rear of the vehicle. Without the hitch installed, it is more difficult.
What I recommend is to err on the side of caution. What you can do is to use the Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount, # D210. The receiver portion is extended out 7-1/2 inches, and the Carpod will fit into it. If it turns out that you do not need any extra length, then you can just use the ball mount as a ball mount to tow a trailer.
From what I have seen in other trailer hitches for your vehicle and other vehicles that accept the CURT trailer hitch, the face of the receiver will be a little further out than the rear bumper so there is a good chance you will not need an extension at all and the Carpod will fit. I have included a link to the installation instructions for the hitch, and a link to a video review of the Carpod for you.
