Question:
Just purchases resistors for my third brake light on 1998 Dodge Ram 1500. The problem i had was when I plugged in the new light the white lights came on and stayed on. Was told if i wire resistors this would fix

I recommend checking the wire you are using for your third brake light using a circuit tester like # PTW2993. If you have constant power, then the wire you are using for a third brake light is not the correct wire. There should only be signal when you hit the brake pedal on the correct 3rd brake light wire.
If your wire is working properly, then you should be able to even use an LED third brake light when you utilize a load resistor like the Load-Resistor Kit # DI34ZR. I've attached a photo to assist with the proper installation of this resistor. Often people will install these incorrectly by placing them in line without a ground connection.
If that all checks out and you still have issues, let me know and we can continue to troubleshoot.
