Updated 06/10/2024 | Published 02/11/2018

Question:

I have a freightliner M45 old fedex step van. I would like to get a class IV or V trailer hitch for my truck. Can you help me the right one?

I spoke to my contacts at Curt and Reese and the only styles of hitches that can be made to fit a service body truck like your Fedex step van are multi-fit RV hitches like the # 41990 that has a 16k capacity. This is a weld on hitch that would require either the 7 inch drop brackets part # 4907 or the 16 inch brackets part # 4916.

Hello Jameson, how does one know which bracket is needed?

@ShawnP You'd need to measure how far down your service body hangs relative to your vehicle frame to determine which size would fit best.

@JamesonC Thank you I will try to figure that out. A related question would be is there a trailer wiring harness for the same vehicle? 1999 Freightliner MT45- Utilimaster

@ShawnP Nothing custom fit. Only universal wiring harnesses like the part # 119190KIT.
