Weight of B&W Patriot 16K 5th Wheel Hitch BWRVK3200

Question:

Hi, I own a 2013 Ram 2500 Diesel with the 6 1/2 foot bed, Payload capacity is a concern for me and I want to make sure I stay within the legal GVWR limits of my vehicle. The truck weighs in around 7500lbs full of fuel without me or my wife. The GVWR is only 10,000lbs. This hitch looks very heavy duty which is good but I would like to know what is the total weight of the hitch assembly, fifth wheel and turnover ball assembly included. Moreover, is there any lighter options you guys may have that would fit my applications better? I am looking into purchasing fifth wheel but am not so much concerned with the need for a slider as the pin box on the fifth wheel rotates.

If you intend to purchase a 5th wheel trailer that has a Revolution or Sidewinder pivoting pin box for use with your 2013 Ram 2500 short bed then you will not need a sliding-type hitch and can use a fixed hitch of your preference. However, the excellent B&W Companion 20K hitch # BWRVK3500-5W, which mounts using the gooseneck install kit # BWGNRK1313-5W, is not compatible with any type of pivoting pin box.

You are correct that B&W makes a serious product. Their 5th wheel hitches are produced completely in the USA and they feature design and materials quality that are largely unmatched. You can still use one of their hitches, just not the Companion.

A great B&W option for your truck is their 16K Patriot hitch # BWRVK3200 which mounts in your truck using their custom above-bed-rail install kit # BWRVK2605. This shares the build quality of the Companion but at a lower price and with more than enough capacity for your application. This hitch weighs approximately 140-lbs but the head unit can be removed from the pivot arms to make removal easier. The head alone weighs about 52-lbs.
