Should Ford Expedition Tow in 4WD or in 2WD
Question:
I have a twenty foot patoon boat and was wondering if I should tow it in awd or two wheel drive, it seems like it is working hard on transmission

For towing you would not want to have your vehicle in four wheel drive. Two wheel drive would be better and would be less hard on transmission components. The only time you'd want to put it in AWD or 4WD would be if you were losing traction.
Otherwise it does not help anything else.
