Assembly Order for Bearings, Races, and Seals for Trailer Hub # 34822BX
Updated 03/15/2011 | Published 03/12/2011 >
Question:
First time Ive done this so hope you can help. Ive got Trailer Hub Assy #34822BX and spindle #TRU94FR. Tried a loose fit in this order on the spindle, from in to out: washer, seal, inner bearing, Trailer Hub Assy, outer bearing, but at this point the threaded end of the spindle is flush with the outer edge of the outer bearings - no threads showing to screw on the bolt, much less the cotter pin. I was told these are the correct Trailer Hub Assy and Spindle for each other, so I must be doing something wrong, They fit fine if I omit the seal - I can then get the bolt/cotter pin on, but, obviously I dont want to leave the seal off. Is this the correct order of assembly? Do I need to press the seal on harder to fit over the inside edge of the Trailer Hub Assy? I didnt want to force something and ruin the seal. Please let this newbie know what to do to get it together. If I can get this to work, Ill probably be ordering at least two more of these.

The order of assembly is as follows (from the inside out). First, put the inner race in the back side of the hub, followed by the inner bearing, and then the seal. Insert the hub onto the spindle. Then, insert the outer race, followed by the outer bearing, then the washer, nut, and pin. The grease cap goes on last.
It looks like you are putting the race in the wrong place. I have included a link to a video that will show you the process. Also, all the parts you have listed are compatible. It will be a tight fit but I am sure you will be able to get it assembled and on the road in no time.
