Question:
Trying to get a front mount hitch for my 1999 Mitsubishi Montero sport will a universal weld on work if I have installed by professional welder or do you know of one that fits close from other vehicle?

Expert Reply:
There are no custom-fit front-mounted hitches made for your 1999 Mitsubishi Montero Sport but as you noted we do offer some universal-fit hitches intended for RVs that might work for you.
These hitches are made with adjustable mounting brackets that allow them to fit on vehicle frames of varying widths. They also vary in their weight ratings.
You'll want to have a look at the front-end frame access on the Montero to see if you have enough space to mount one of these. The Ultra-Fab # UF35-946403 for example is a weld-on hitch rated for 350-lbs tongue weight (TW) and that fits I-beam, C-channel or rectangular frame members. It fits frame widths (measured outside to outside) of 47-1/8- to 77-inches.
You would do well to check with Mitsubishi about the vehicle's frame capacity. It is possible that you can fit a hitch on the vehicle, but that the vehicle does not share the same rating as the installed hitch. The lower-rated item, hitch or vehicle frame, will determine your actual load capacity.
