Recommended Roof Top Bike Racks For Toyota Prius With Yakima Roof Rack

Dear eTrailer.com Representative, I am a potential customer interested in a bike rack, roof or hatchback, for a 2005 Toyota Prius. I currently have a Yamika roof rack made for a kayak and wonder if the bars would be compatible for the crossbars of a roof bike rack. Can you get back to me about what products might be best suited for my car?

For your Yakima roof rack on your Prius I recommend the Yakima FrontLoader, part # Y02103. this is a wheel mount bike carrier so it does not require you to remove the front wheel. This bike carrier has a lockable cable that helps secure the bike to the carrier.
We also have a fork mount carrier, part # Y02098. This carrier weighs just 8-lbs. This carrier has a sliding wheel tray and a ratcheting strap to hold the wheel securely in place.
My preference is the wheel mounted carriers because they do not require removal of the front wheel. One less thing you have to do.
The Yakima carriers are well-constructed and lightweight when compared to many carriers and have the added option of the Same Key System that enables you to secure the bike carriers and help deter theft.
