Can Trailer Hitch Be Installed on Vehicle with Rust on Frame
Published 08/11/2016 >
Question:
What if the mountng holes on the Terrain are rusted. Can you still mount the hitch?

Helpful Expert Reply:
If the vehicle frame has surface rust where the hitch would mount that's pretty normal and would be fine. If the frame has enough rust that the frame is basically starting to deteriorate then I can't recommend you install a hitch.
The Curt hitch part # 13591 would be the most popular and best option we have. I attached an install video for this for you to check out as well.
If at all possible I would remove surface rust with sand paper and spray paint over to keep it from spreading.
