Question:

i have a1999 Honda Odyssey is always loaded down i make about 4 to 6 trips a year 1200miles one way no long stops. extra 500 miles while there. then back no stops only 4 fuel .is part #D13503 transmission cooler going 2 b over kill? going 2 start pulling 24foot travel trailer. lots of up hills

Whether or not an aftermarket transmission cooler is needed depends largely on how much weight you will be towing and how often you plan to tow. Transmission fluid can not be overcooled but in the winter it will need longer to warm up if you add an aftermarket cooler that works in line with your current system.

You will also want to check your owners manual because it will help you determine when to use a transmission cooler on your vehicle.

I do not think that using the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, # D13503, would be overkill on your 1999 Honda Odyssey, especially since you are going to start pulling a 24 foot travel trailer up and down hills.

The most efficient location to install a transmission cooler is between your vehicles grille and the AC condenser. You will want to measure on your vehicle if you will have the space to install the # D13503 cooler. The measurement of the cooler is 11 inches wide x 8-3/4 inches tall x 7/8 inch deep.

I am sending a video link of a transmission cooler being installed on a 2006 Honda CR-V. You may not have to take off the front bumper cover to install on your vehicle. We mostly did it for purposes of the video so that we can clearly show what is being done.
