Scooter Carrier for Rear of Motorhome

Updated 06/19/2020 | Published 06/21/2016

Question:

We have a small motorhome. We want to add a hitch rack for a scooter under 300 lbs. We were wondering if any motorcycle rack is made that we can then add our Yakima hitch rack made for two bicycles on the back of it. Total weight of that rack and bikes would be under 100 lbs.

We do offer a motorcycle/scooter carrier that's rated for use on a motorhome, part # UF48-979033 from Ultra-Fab. As long as the scooter's tires aren't wider than 5 inches, the carrier should be compatible with your scooter. In order to use a motorcycle/scooter carrier, the hitch on the motorhome would need to have sufficient capacity to handle the 300 lb weight of the scooter and the 45 lb weight of the # UF48-979033 carrier.

There is no way to add a bike rack and bikes to the Ultra-Fab carrier. Adding anything to the rear of the carrier will exert too much leverage on your trailer hitch, which can damage the hitch or cause its attachment points to the vehicle to fail.

475 pound scooter carrier for back of RV. Spare tire is on back of RV. 12 inches to outer edge of spare tire. Will spare tire be in the way of carrier with scooter on it ? Thanks

On the Ultra-Fab # UF48-979033 there's only 5" from the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of the carrier, so most likely the spare tire on your RV will interfere. Is there any way to relocate the spare?
