Question:

2016 Ford Explorer Limited has a rear spoiler. Will this bike rack straps damage or loosen the spoiler in any way?

You should not put stress or weight on the rear spoiler on your 2016 Ford Explorer and there is only one kind of trunk mount rack that can do that. Take a look at the Hollywood Racks Over-The-Top rack # HRF2 for 2 bikes or # HRF2-3 for 3 bikes.

These racks have an extra arm piece that moves the straps up and over the spoiler so no weight or stress is put on it. I have included a link to a video showing how it works.

The Yakima FullBack, # Y02634, is a great rack but it would put stress on the spoiler.

If you will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical men's bike would) then I recommend using bike adapter bar # 64005. This will allow you to carry those bikes more level and will provide better ground clearance. I have linked a video showing how the adapter works.
