Recommendations for Easily Moving Around a Log Splitter on a Trailer  

Question:

My questions are : I have a sears craftsman 25 ton log splitter that I do not trailer. I want to attach the swivel jack to the frame near the hitch so that I can move the splitter in and out of the shed, and to the work site without having to lift it, and without difficulty ? The second and most important question is whether or not the swivel jack will provide enough stability while the log splitter is being used ? Please note that I always place wood chocks under the wheels and I could also place a 4x4 under the hitch if necessary... The swivel leg that is currently mounted on the frame near the hitch must be removed to install the swivel jack...

A swivel jack could work though it will likely not be as stable as you would like and would not make the log splitter that easy to move. What I recommend is a trailer dolly. We have some basic trailer dollies such as # RA20 that would work for you. Or for something that will make moving the trailer even easier I recommend the Trailer Valet XL, # TVXL25 for a 2-5/16 inch ball, or # TVXL2 for a 2 inch ball.

Any of the dolly options means that you will not have to permanently mount anything to the trailer so there won't be a compatibility issue and you won't have to worry about a lack of stability like you would with a regular jack with a caster.
