How Does the Pop & Lock Custom Tailgate Lock PAL8250 Install in a 2008 Ford F150
Question:
I am trying to hookup a pl8250 tailgate lock. Everything is installed but cant find wires to hook to. Colors on instructions are not there. Have called PandL but no return call! I have a 2008 F150 regular cab. PandL says to hookup behind kick panel on 2 door trucks. When jumped 12v to PandL wires the lock works. Should this work if just hooked to the lock/unlock wires or is there more to this. Very frustrated, have been trying to figure this out for 3 days. Thank you,

Expert Reply:
Wire colors aren't specified when installing the # PAL8250 because we have found that the wire colors can sometimes change so the only consistent way to install the unit is to test the wires for the correct function.
That being said, according to the install instructions for your truck you will be looking for a grey or grey with tan stripe wire and a purple or purple with grey stripe wire on either side kick panel of the vehicle.
You will connect the wires of the lock to the vehicle wires using either wire for each color. You will then test that the lock works properly and either flip them around at the tailgate like what is shown in the install video I attached or leave as-is.
