Recommended 4-Way Connector to Wire Motorcycle Carrier Lights at Rear of 2002 Toyota 4Runner
Question:
I want to order two of these lights to install on a hitch mounted motorcycle carrier. I just am curious about the the wiring harness, I want to hook them up to a 4 pin connector and am confused about which to buy. My 4Runner already has a 7-Way and 4-Pole connector. The dirt bike covers up the tail lights on my vehicle pretty good when I take it on the carrier, I think two of these mounted to the carrier will be a lot safer. Thanks!

If your bike blocks your vehicle's taillights, it is a great idea to install lights on the carrier. I can certainly help you choose a 4-way connector to wire the # STL69RRXB lights.
I recommend the Westbar Trailer End Connector, 4-Flat # 54000-026. This connector will provide you with a 4-way flat connector and has a coiled lead to allow you to connect to your lights. The coiled lead will help keep the wiring from dragging the ground while you are hauling your bike carrier. When coiled, the lead is 3 feet long, and it is 12 feet long when stretched.
At the opposite end from the 4-way connector, the # 54000-026 offers wires to allow you to connect the lights for ground, right turn/stop, left turn/stop, and taillights. The functions of these wires by color are white for ground, green for right turn/stop, yellow for left turn/stop, and brow for running lights.
There are 3 wires at the back of the # STL69RRXB lights. The white wire is for ground, the black wire is for taillights, and the red wire is for stop and turn.
To wire the lights, you will want to connect the white ground wire from the # STL69RRXB light to the white ground wire on the harness. The black wire from the light will connect to the brown wire on the harness. The red wire on the light will connect to either the green or yellow wire, depending on which side of the vehicle the light is on.
You can make these connections using butt connectors, # DW05745-10.
