Video Transcript for Wesbar Wiring - Trailer Connectors - 54000-026 Review

Today we'll be reviewing part number 54000-026. This is the West Bar Trailer and Connector with a Four Flat connection. It does have the wires exposed, that way you can hard wire this onto your trailer and then you'll have the connection with the four flat ready to hook up to the tow vehicle. The coiled length is going to measure about 3 feet. It will stretch up to 12 feet, giving you a safe length of working limit anywhere from 6 to 10 feet. When it's fully stretched out to the 12 foot capacity, it does put some tension on the connection point, so you want to be cautious of that.

It has a really nice protective coating around it that is insulated, so it's going to stand up well against the elements and resist damage. See here that we have the four flat connection. Coiled length again, 3 feet, fully extended, 12, with a safe limit of anywhere from 6 to 10. The wires, our yellow wire is going to be for the left turn and stop lights, green wire is going to be for the right turn and stop lights, the brown is going to be for your tail light, license, and side marker, as well as your clearance lights, and the white is going to be your ground wire. That's going to do it for today's review of part number 54000-026. This is the West Bar Trailer and Connector with a Four Flat connection.

I used this product along with your 7 round pin to 4 flat adapter, item #118709, on the lights on our Brent and Parker grain wagons. This has worked out great so far. We haven't had the problem of too much or too little cord for the trailer lights, which allows the cord to get pinched and cut or stretched and broke. I just need to come up with a method of securing the cord and plug to the trailer tongue when not in use.

This is just what I was looking for after I kept having trouble with my manufacturers original wiring configuration.

Looking for a coiled wiring harness for a trailer that I occasionally tow with my pickup truck, I found this website. The picture and description looked like just what I needed. When I received it (promptly, thank you) it turned out to be even better than I expected. It is rugged and well-made and was just what I needed to keep the trailer-to-truck wiring from dragging, yet expanding to the length needed when making turns. Thanks for good service and a good product!

Rick G.

The trailer wiring harness I ordered from you continues to be a happy purchase. The coiled-design is just what I needed to keep the wiring from dipping too low while also allowing flexibility for turns.

After seeing too many trailers come into our shop with broken connectors or cords that had been pulled away from their connectors, I knew there had to be a better way. With a simple Google search, I found these coiled connectors and thought I would give them a try. Although I haven't used them Yet, they seem to be exactly what I was looking for and a solution to a potential wiring problem.

I have been 101 satisfied with this product. I have replaced several straight-wire plugs because theyre too short or get caught in moving parts. I bought several of these coiled connectors and they are well worth the money. I was very satisfied with the quality too.

Recently purchased a used boat and trailer. The trailer wiring had what seemed to be about 75 feet of excess wire zip tied around the front of the trailer. Cut all of that off and installed this. Not only does it look much cleaner, but no more concern of the wiring dragging or getting pulled out. Would buy it again.

Its been a year now, and although I havent used that trailer that much, it has been exposed to Arizona heat for the entire time. Pulled the trailer a couple of days ago and it was as expected. Still as happy with the purchase now as I was when I first installed it.

This coiled harness is a quality product and great idea. Prevents possible dragging and damage to harness. My only criticism would be two brown (pwr) wires one for left and right side of trailer. Most quality wiring assemblies use 5 wires exiting a 4 pin plug.

No issues. Great product.

The coiled trailer cord is very heavy duty. Really, too heavy for my small custom motorcycle trailer. But, the description does not give any idea of the size of the cord so, I used it and it will work. I just wish the cord was smaller in diameter. Excellent shipping time by etrailer and the price just can't be beat!

The cord works great even after a year and several thousand motorcycle touring miles. If it was just lighter weight it wouldn’t be as visually obvious.

Works great to keep the light cords from being pinched on our Brent and Parker wagons. Factory light cords were pinched, cut and patched so many times we finally replaced them with these coiled cords. Wagons sit outside a fair amount of time so they gradually stretch out after about 5 years in our case. Had to replace one out of 4 this year. Still worth it. Greatly reduces trailer light maintenance.

After using trailer wiring kits from Harbor Freight and Wal-Mart I decided to try something heavy duty. Wow! What a difference. This trailer-to-vehicle plug is real quality, and will last the life of my trailer.

This was exactly what I needed - heavy duty. And with the online help from etrailer, I knew how to connect it correctly to the 5 wires coming off the trailer. I used Junction Box 38656 to make a very professional-looking rig. I drilled a hole thru the back of the junction box and fished the wires in from there, so there are no wires showing externally, no in-line connectors to come loose, and the wires are completely protected. Excellent products and help!!

Coiled wiring harness far exceeded anything I ever expected.
Don't see ever having to replace this one......

Nothing changed here, dont see failure thru life of trailer

Very heavy duty industrial-grade trailer lighting cable. Cable is a little thicker/stiffer and also heavier weight than expected, but will work well with a vehicle-mounted 4-pin lighting connector.

Nice heavy duty cable. I own a well used 4x8 utility trailer that needed a new connector and I wanted one that was coiled so it wouldn’t droop. I think I just doubled the value of my trailer with this purchase. I wish I could get a cover for the connector though, it seems like only ones for the tow vehicle are available.

Shipping took a while only because it wasn't currently in stock, however once it was available it got to me incredibly fast. As for the product, it's incredibly well made and hefty! I was expecting something like an old telephone chord but it's much thicker and heavy duty.

All items shipped quickly and installed. Perfect!

Ordered a bunch of stuff for hooking up a towed. Everything arrived as ordered and quick shipping. Everything fit the application without much trouble. Communication from etrailer was excellent. I would purchase from etrailer again.

Awesome service! I was totally surprised when I received the package in the mail. It was heavy...So I wasn't sure what I ordered? So when I opened it, I saw this really heavy duty coiled connector which was so awesome. Thank you George J and I'm redoing my 4x6 utility trailer, so i'll be making more orders in the future.

First time ordering from etrailer. The shipping info said delivery on Friday, than a corrected note said Thursday and I got it on Wednesday, less than a week. That was a nice surprise.
The four pin coiled trailer plug was much more heavy-duty than I thought it would be, another nice surprise.

I purchased a fold-trailer to haul my lawn mowers and etc. for my rentals. The problem when folding up the trailer the wires either got caught in between the trailer or the last time broke the wires.

I brought these to give me the play I needed and not get caught in between the frame work of the trailer and not have to make the wires so they drugged on the ground. Put them on yesterday all problems solved. Oh yea I didnt used them for what they were intended for. lol

This is a great item to link wiring from a 5th Wheel to your truck.

Product was just as I had ordered. Delivery was very fast.
It's now installed on my trailer and the lights work great.

I am happy to report that this company has always come true with it's quality and service. Thanks for your help. I received the trailer end connector which far exceeds my expectations.

I did not expect this wire harness to be of such good quality! Extremely heavy duty and just what the doctor ordered! I highly recommend anybody looking for good quality products to check etrailer. com out! To me you cant go wrong!!!!!!

Purchased this product as a jumper cord to be used in towing hay wagons with the truck. Works excellent. The cord stays up off the ground but yet still provides plenty of flex for when the wagon turns.

  • Coiled and Uncoiled Lengths for Wesbar Coiled Trailer End Connector, Part # 54000-026
The Wesbar Coiled Trailer Wire with 4-Way Flat Connector, part # 54000-026, when coiled up in a resting position with no tension on it to stretch it, measures approximately 3 feet in overall length. When under significant tension to expand it the overall length is approximately 12 feet. I would say it is best to consider its maximum working length to be 6 to 8 feet. If stretched beyond that point there may be a tendency for the connector to spring back from the tension and become dislodged...

  • Replacing A 4 Wire Trailer Connector With The Bargman WG54006-043
The Bargman # WG54006-043, along with any other 7-way trailer connector will have 7 wires inside. Green, red, brown, yellow, blue, black and white. What you are describing with the white, brown, green and yellow wires, sound like the standard 4-pin connections. If your trailer has a 7 way plug with only those 4 wires, it almost sounds like someone may have done a DIY wiring job on this trailer at some point, and wired a 7 pin plug to a 4 wire trailer harness. That being said, you certainly...

The Wesbar Trailer End Connector - 4-Flat - Coiled # 54000-026 will work to connect a 4-way plug like # HM48190 to the pigtail end to create exactly what you are seeking.
