Question:
Can you tell me if any of these threaded fittings on a cooler install require any type of sealant, say tape or liquid sealant?? Thanks

Expert Reply:
Adding thread sealed tape to the fittings in the Derale Transmission Cooler, # D12904, is not necessary, but you can use some as long as it is only on the threads and not on the face of the fitting. You do not want particles getting into the transmission, so you will have to be very careful. Since it is not necessary, I recommend just using the fittings by themselves unless you discover a leak after installation. Then it would be a good idea to add the tape.
I do not recommend using a liquid sealant as the likelihood of getting some of the sealant in the lines is too great and it could cause transmission problems.
