Troubleshooting Bulldog Electric Landing Gear that Turns But Does Not Raise or Lower Jack
Products Featured in This Question
Question:
I had my bulldog electric jack professional installed and has been working perfectly. It is been used about 6 times and when I got back from camping this weekend the jack would not go up or down. The electric jack was turning and gears were moving properly but jack was stuck in the up position. Do you think I took it up too far and broke a pin.

It sounds like you broke a bevel gear in your # BD1824200100 by over extending it and that is why everything seems to be moving but the jack does not go up or down.
When you bought this jack set it came with an extra bevel gear so as long as you still have that you can try inspecting the current one and replacing as necessary.
To access the gears inside of the heavy-duty Bulldog jacks you simply remove the screws that are holding on the plate covering the top of the jack. Once that plate is removed, the gears, pins and handle should be exposed.
We also offer the Replacement Screw and Nut Kit, # BD500217, for the heavy-duty 12,000 lb capacity Bulldog jacks. I have attached two photos that show the inner workings of the heavy-duty Bulldog jacks for you to check out.
The cross shaft that connects to the handle should be attached to the 12 toothed bevel pinion with a straight pin. You can remove the straight pin to remove the cross shaft, spring and bevel pinion. With that removed, the 18 tooth bevel gear will be exposed, and that is attached to the screw and nut assembly with a grooved pin.
