I spoke with my contact at Curt and he informed me that the distance between the bolt holes centers on this Curt Class IV Trailer Hitch Receiver, part # 14053, is 38-1/2 inches.
Did you measure from the center of the frame rails or from the center of the bolt holes on your 1986 Ford E-350 box truck? From the frame down to the hitch opening will measure 2 inches with this hitch.
Usually box trucks/service body trucks require a multi-fit hitch like the # 41990 that has a 16k capacity. This is a weld on hitch that would require either the 7 inch drop brackets part # 4907 or the 16 inch brackets part # 4916.
