Recommended Vehicle to Flat Tow with Wide Variety of Tow Vehicles
Question:
Hi I have a 2013 nissan rouge AWD and was wondering what a good vehicle to flat tow would be as I need to trade my nissan in as it cannot be flat towed... A BIG problem I am running into is I will be driving multiple different vehicles. Sometimes its little box and straight trucks and sometimes its a Tractor without trailer. Always different models. If you could please help me with this I would GREATLY appreciate it. Would also like to know what accessories I need to be able to have to capability of hitching up to as many different types of vehicles as physically possible. Thanks for your time hope to hear from you soon.

Probably the most popular vehicle for flat towing is the Jeep Wrangler. Other popular models for flat towing are the Toyota Rav4 and the Ford Focus.
The Demco Dominator tow bar you referenced # DM9511008, can be used to tow many different vehicles, including Honda CRVs, Rav4s, Wrangers, Chevy Sonics, Pontiac G6 GTs, Jeep Grand Cherokees, Jeep Libertys among others. However you will need to buy vehicle specific baseplates and tow bar wiring for each vehicle. I have included links to FAQ articles on Demco baseplates and flat tow lighting that covers the various options for you to review to determine what will work best for your needs.
Most states now require a supplemental braking system on the vehicle being flat towed. The easiest system to set up and use is the Even Brake # RM-9400. This is a proportional system that applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the towing vehicle is braking. Proportional systems are the safest way to stop and they reduce wear and tear on both vehicles.
I have also included links to our series of FAQ articles on flat towing for you.
