Question:
I am interested in purchasing a trunk mounted bike rack for my 2012 Acura MDX. I already have a Thule rack that I used with my old vehicle and when I went to pick up my bike with my new car they told me that I couldnt use that rack due to the wing on the rear at the top of the glass. I note that you recommend the Yakima King Joe. Do I require the extra set of glass straps. Does the rack hook into the wing or is there another way that it attaches at the top? I bike about twice a week and need to carry 2 bikes. Please send your recommendations. thanks.

Yakima has confirmed that their FullBack 2 Bike Rack, # Y02634, will fit on the 2012 Acura MDX with the rear spoiler and they say the upper hooks must be changed and installed in anchor mode for this vehicle.
The concern with the spoiler at the top of the rear hatch is that most spoilers are not designed to hold additional weight. With trunk mounted bike racks, the straps pull on the spoiler, more so when the bikes are loaded. This can warp and deform plastic or lightweight spoilers.
Another possible option is the SeaSucker Hornet, # 298-BH1302. SeaSucker uses vacuum cups, so there are no straps or hooks that could potentially damage your vehicle. This rack will only carry 1 bike, so you will want to order 2 for 2 bikes. I've attached a review video of this bike rack for you to check out.
