How to Add a Lift to a Toy Hauler Trailer for Better Ground Clearance
Question:
I have a 2014 Hyperlite 27HFS Toy Hauler and it sits too low to the ground. We do a lot of camping off road on big ranches in the west and we dont want to tear anything out from under the trailer. What options do we have that will not damage or make the toy hauler unsafe to tow? Wed like about 4-6 inches of height. Thanks!!

You can lift your trailer by taking the axles of the trailer and moving them below the leaf springs. Depending on the amount of leaves on your leaf springs this should give you about a 4-6 inch lift.
The diameter of your trailer axle will determine the size of the parts that you will need to order. If your axle is 3 inches diameter, the Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit, # K71-385-00, would be a great choice and if your axle is 2-3/8 inch diameter you could use the Over-Under Kit, # K71-384-00. These kits can be installed without welding but the manufacturer strongly recommends having the new spring seat tacked in place on the other side of the trailer axle.
Some refer to this process as "flipping the axles," but since axle has a slight bow to it you can't just flip them and reinstall them under the springs using the same spring seats. You have to remove the spring seats and install new ones on the opposite side of the axle so that it can be moved below the spring.
You will need a ball mount with a different rise/drop as the trailer will not sit up much higher. Once you have lifted the trailer check out the help article I attached that details how to pick out the correct rise/drop ball mount.
