As long as your 1984 GMC K3500 Pickup has an 8' bed I recommend the B&W Heavy-Duty Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class V # BWHDRH25198 if your truck has the Deepdrop bumper, or B&W Heavy-Duty Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class V # BWHDRH25122 if your truck has the standard or step bumper.
Both of these trailer hitch receiver's have a 1600lb maximum tongue weight rating, and 16000lb maximum trailer weight rating, but you will want to check the owner's manual of your K3500 and use the lowest rating between the vehicle and the trailer hitch receiver.
If you do not already have a trailer wiring harness I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118311.
Lastly for a heavy duty ball mount I recommend the B&W Heavy-Duty Ball Mount # BWBMHD30012 which can use 2" hitch ball # A-90, or 2-5/16" hitch ball # BWHB94050, and hitch pin and clip # PC3.
I included videos for each of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
